The next IREC Telephone Seminar will be held Thursday, June 12, at 2pm EDT (1pm CDT, noon MDT, 11am PDT, 10am Alaska, 8am Hawaii) on Solar Power Purchase Agreements. The seminar will last for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Power Purchase Agreements have emerged as the primary business model for non-residential solar installations. This seminar will examine the operational roles of the companies involved, the merging business models, and the resulting solar markets.

You will also learn about policy issues, which affect the Solar PPAs. The uncertainty of Federal Investment Tax Credits (ITC) has a significant impact on potential deals for 2009 and later. Also, a number of state regulatory commissions are ruling on the status of Solar PPAs, which may limit their application or change the business model in those states.

Two experts on Solar Power Purchase Agreements will present at the seminar – Jon Guice of AltaTerra Research and Peter Mostow of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Jon Guice, PhD
Jon Guice is AltaTerra's head of research. He is the lead author of the forthcoming AltaTerra Research report The Solar PPA Market: Positioning the Players (working title). Prior to AltaTerra, Dr. Guice was the co-founder of the premier clean technology design engineering consultancy, where he developed relationships with clients and partners, building a customer base of innovative startups, established firms such as SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) and research groups such as PARC. Jon Guice earned a doctorate as a Regents Fellow in the first-ranked science and technology studies program at the University of California, San Diego and has presented and published widely on global industry trends, research management and product innovation.

Peter Mostow, J.D.
Peter Mostow is a partner in the Seattle office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on energy, natural resource, and environmental law. He assists growth clients in the clean technology and renewable energy sector, including developers and technology providers in the areas of solar PV, solar thermal, wind, geothermal, ocean, hydroelectric, energy storage, biomass, and biofuel facilities. He has represented a number of companies on strategy, development and finance of third-party PPA solar businesses. In addition, Peter applies his knowledge of energy and infrastructure project development to assist clients with diligence, negotiations, and legal opinions on a variety of transactions including joint ventures, acquisitions, venture and later-stage investments, project finance, and corporate finance. Peter received his J.D. from Yale Law School and served as judicial clerk on the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals before entering private practice in 1994.
